SPIRITUAL GROWTH CURRICULUM FOR CHILDREN

SPIRITUAL GROWTH CURRICULUM FOR CHILDREN

Hello everyone, and welcome to my blog! Today, I want to delve into a crucial topic for all parents—developing a spiritual growth curriculum for your children. If you’ve been following my content, you know that I often discuss godly parenting and spiritual development for kids. This post will focus on what should be included in your children’s spiritual growth curriculum, specifically targeting ages 0 to 6. However, even if your children are older, it’s never too late to start!

1. Salvation

The cornerstone of your child’s spiritual growth should be salvation. There is no spiritual development without it. As a parent, it is your responsibility, not the church’s, to lead your child to Christ. The church can support and help, but you should take the lead in this crucial area. I recommend a resource called the Wordless Book, which I have adapted to help explain salvation to children in an engaging and understandable way.

2. Identity in Christ

Once your child understands salvation, the next step is to teach them about their identity in Christ. Knowing who they are in Christ is essential for them to live out the life God intends for them. I’ve created a resource titled “The A to Z of New Creation Realities,” which includes flashcards to help children grasp their identity in Christ through the alphabet. This tool helps instill a strong spiritual foundation from a young age.

3. Prioritizing God’s Word

For believers, God’s Word is life. Your children need to learn to prioritize and value the Bible. They should understand that the Word of God is integral to their identity as Christians. To aid in this, I’ve developed a resource called “God’s Word in My Mouth,” which includes spiritual confessions for children in various situations. This book teaches children that there is a biblical solution for every challenge they may face.

4. Journaling

Teaching your children the art of journaling is another vital aspect of their spiritual growth. Journaling helps them to record and reflect on what God is speaking to their hearts. This practice not only reinforces their relationship with God but also helps them remember His guidance and revelations. I have created “Abba’s Daughter: A Prayer and Devotional Journal for Moms and Daughters” and a prayer journal for boys to facilitate this practice.

5. Personal Relationship with the Lord

It is crucial to teach your children how to develop a personal relationship with the Lord through Bible reading and prayer. This involves setting aside quiet time for devotion and cultivating a habit of daily communion with God. I have previously created a video that discusses this in detail, and the link to that video is below.

6. Scripture Memorization and Meditation

Scripture memorization and meditation are key elements of spiritual growth. Teaching your children how to meditate on God’s Word and memorize scriptures will help them internalize biblical truths and apply them in their daily lives. I have created a resource to assist with this.
